The Campus Trio is an innovative piano trio, bringing the vibrancy and versatility of the saxophone to this traditional chamber music setting. They formed in late 2018 whilst all three musicians were studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and soon after they were awarded the 2019 Governor’s Recital Prize for Chamber Music. Campus Trio is a Live Music Now Scotland ensemble, and frequently take part in performances and musical outreach in partnership with the charity. Their repertoire includes a vast range of transcriptions from across the chamber music repertoire, performing shorter works by Shostakovich and Piazzolla alongside major trios by Glinka and Dvorak – all specially arranged for the unique lineup of instruments. Recently, their repertoire has been expanded with the help of Live Music Now Scotland, who commissioned a new work from Kimie Composition Prize winner Erin Thompson – The Graceful Art of Walking on Stilts.
