Fiona Brice - Brudenell Sessions

Monday 8th August 1pm Free Entry

Fiona Brice is a British violinist, pianist and composer whose music spans both contemporary classical and indie

alternative worlds. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music & King’s College London, she is most often

recognised as a session musician and orchestral arranger, performing with high profile rock/pop artists eg. Placebo,

Elbow, Kelly Jones, John Grant, Ariana Grande, Liam Gallagher, Sam Fender, Florence & the Machine, Anna Calvi,

Phoebe Bridgers. Her large-scale orchestral arrangements for collaborations with the BBC Philharmonic, Royal

Northern Sinfonia, Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Heritage Orchestra and more have been broadcast on BBC Radio

3, BBC Radio 4, BBC 6 Music and MTV Unplugged and performed at the BBC Proms.

By contrast, her own music is contemplative, classical and intimate in style. Her debut instrumental album

“Postcards From” was released on Bella Union in 2016, with a second album to follow this year. Classical releases

include “Piano Preludes” (Bigo & Twigetti 2022), “String Quartet No.1” (Bigo & Twigetti 2018), and a 20-minute

commission for chamber ensemble entitled “Scissors Paper Stone” for the Thesis/DRIVE Project (USA). Her work

“Relationships for String Ensemble” was recently premiered by the London Mozart Players, where she is currently

Collaborative Composer in Association. She also composes for TV and film.

Brudenell Piano Sessions is an intimate and varied series of live music events highlighting the diverse and varied music being composed for and performed on the piano, hosted by pianist & composer Simeon Walker.

Born out of and held predominantly at one of the UK’s most iconic venues - Brudenell Social Club - these events seek to give a platform for new and emerging artists to present their work alongside other established artists in an informal, supportive and encouraging environment; whilst aiming to challenge audiences’ perceptions about where this work can be experienced, and seeking to provide opportunities for new musical discoveries.

It is a great pleasure to partner with Pianodrome, building on the existing connections between the organisations and our cities, to host a number of Brudenell Piano Session takeover events at this years' Edinburgh Fringe in the magnificent Pianodrome ampitheatre.
