Pianodrome Live: Dowally + Daniel MGeever

Sunday 14th August 9pm

Dowally feat Philippe Boudot

Edinburgh favourites Dowally make joyful, thrilling, original folk music influenced by Scottish Trad, jazz, klezmer and everything in-between. They are prolific collaborators; during lockdown the band created remote recordings with the inventive and soulful drummer Philippe Boudot, from Normandy, France. This August they will be making music together *In Real Life* and for sure something special is going to happen. Praise for Dowally: ”Utterly enchanting" (Songlines), "A special blend of different worlds" (The National), ”Rather splendid" (The Herald)

Daniel McGeever

Daniel McGeever is a stellar singer songwriter from Portobello, Edinburgh’s seaside. His debut solo LP, Cross The Water, was released in December 2017 on Spanish label You Are The Cosmos, comprising heartfelt songs of love and death, hope and joy, delivered with fire and soul. The record received radio play on the Roddy Hart show on BBC Radio Scotland as well as fine reviews further afield:

“A repertoire so brilliant that it reminds one of the best McCartney” – El País

“Meaningful  heart-on-sleeve lyrics and memorable choruses… looking back and forward in equal measure, with a rarely found welcome openness” – Shindig!

His follow up LP (working title Unicorn Connection) is now finished and due for release at the turn of the year. It embraces opposing themes of rising and falling, new love and heartbreak, happiness and sadness, confidence and doubt.

Daniel is a member of harmony pop group The Wellgreen, doom pop from heaven outfit Delta Mainline and collaborates with many of Edinburgh’s finest musicians.

Tonight offers a rare chance to see Daniel perform his own songs, solo at the piano, they way they were conceived.
