Pianodrome Live: Diddley Squat + Jemima Thewes

Friday 19th August 9pm

Diddley Squat

Diddley Squat are the number 1 traditional hardcore Northumbrian reggae band in Northumberland. Over 15 years experience of reaching climatic euphoria all over stages across the British Isles have enabled them to repeatedly cross over into the goat realm and they are now ready to bring back the message of fanatical optimism as transmitted from the centre of the great and terrible goat eye.

Jemima Thewes & the Fuse

Jemima and the Fuse create an enveloping and deeply textured fusion of dark songs and bright, deep rhythms. With it's roots inspired by the folk ballad tradition, and layered with grit, tenderness, mischief, humour and wisdom. These cloud-hopping tales are told by warm, powerful vocals and carried on a bed of heavy, playful percussion and strings. With lyrics and melodies that creep up and catch you unawares and beats that get you moving in spirit and body. Jemima's debut album "Calling” was released on 9th July with the label Last Night From Glasgow, she is touring the album this summer with a shapeshifting line-up of the Fuse- here with core collaborator Tim Lane (Hidden Orchestra) on the percussive time lines and Jem Le Lievre on bass. A surprisingly big and beautiful sound from such a small team. The effect of this music stays with you long after you have heard it.
