Deep Listening

Sculpture design: Tim Vincent - Smith

An upright piano is laid on its back and opened out exposing the decorative cast iron frame and resonant strings. Passers-by may ‘play’ the sculpture using a long stick with a large felt beater evoking thunderous deep rumblings. This sculpture is a look inside both the piano and ourselves to find the deeper resonances that connect us with our inner sound body and our environment.
