Power to the People
Two playable grand pianos face off one another across the public gardens. Each boasts a large gramophone-like pentagonal horn made from the lids and soundboards of pianos. Like megaphones these ‘pentahorns’ amplify the sound of the player’s voice but also like massive ear trumpets each catches the sound of the other such that, even at a distance across a crowded square, two pianos may meet and spar with each other.
