“The Great Howling” - exploring grief through stories, songs, keening and collective soundings of delight, harmony, melody and growl.

Harley is a storyteller, singer-songwriter, music arts psychotherapist, trained in music therapy with Nordoff-Robbins, London, and Peter Brook’s workshops in Paris after studying at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

Prior to training as a therapist, Harley worked in physical theatre and went on to teach in a career spanning three decades across the UK, the USA, France and Central and East Africa running workshops with children and adults. With a passionate love of nature, Harley is also a visual artist using paint with meditation and collaborating with projects including water therapy, labyrinths and collective keening. Her current projects include The Great Howling, Sula Girl, and Lullabies and Bones, a film about death and belonging, mothers and daughters, and the singing sea.

Harley has various recordings including Summer Sings Within with jazz pianist Brian Kellock which combines poetry and song and Sometime Somewhere Someone a collection of stories in song, with a third solo album which will combines folk, jazz and soundings in a playful riot coming out in the new year.
