This is a FREE event but we encourage Donations to the Scottish Refugee Council.
Join us for an evening of music from two different ensembles made up of refugee, immigrant and Scottish musicians from diverse cultural and musical backgrounds.
The Others brings together musicians from refugee and immigrant communities, as well as some Scots, to collaborate creatively through music. They have created new compositions through a series of collaborative sessions drawing on their diverse influences and experiences.
Musicians:
Aref Ghorbani – vocals (The Others & Tomtar)
Saeed Rezazadeh – Tar & vocals (The Others & Tomtar)
Ali Rahmani – percussion, tombak (The Others & Tomtar)
Iain MacKechnie - Guitar
Esther Swift - Harp
Matt Wright - Soprano Saxophone
These sessions were funded by Creative Scotland and EPAD.
This event is part of the Refugee Festival Scotland 2021. Refugee Festival Scotland takes place every year in the lead up to World Refugee Day, on 20 June.
Refugee Festival Scotland is produced and coordinated by Scottish Refugee Council but it is far bigger than this. Hundreds of people and organisations across Scotland come together to make it happen – from refugee-led community groups and individual artists to activists and welcome groups and national cultural institutions.
